This is a list of metrics and calculations available in the Profit module. Note that the metrics available to you differ based on the region and marketplace level you are viewing your data in.

Advertising Metrics

Ad Spend 

Ad Spend = Total Ad Spend + Total SB Ad Spend

The total amount spent on Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands advertising costs.

Gross Organic Sales 

Gross Organic Sales = Gross Sales - PPC Sales

The total revenue generated from non-PPC activity.

PPC Gross Revenue Share (%) 

PPC Gross Revenue Share = (Ad Sales ÷ Gross Sales) *100

The total percentage of Gross Revenue attributed to PPC activity.

SB Ad Spend 


The total amount spent on Sponsored Brands advertising.

SB PPC Sales 


The total amount of sales generated via Sponsored Brands advertising.

SP Ad Spend 


The total amount spent on Sponsored Products advertising.

SP PPC Sales 


The total amount of sales generated via Sponsored Products advertising.

Total PPC Sales 

PPC Sales = Sponsored Brand Sales + Sponsored Product Sales


The total amount of sales generated through Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brand advertising.


Fixed costs

FBA Service Fees 

Calculation varies based on market and category.

The Sum of non order-related FBA fees, such as labeling fees.

FBA Storage Fees 

Calculation varies based on market and category.

The sum of all FBA storage fees, such as Inventory Storage & Long term Storage Fees.

Other Amazon Fees 

Calculation varies based on market and category.


Amazon fees that could not be categorized in any of the above categories.


Margins & ROI

Contribution Margin (%) 

Contribution Margin (%) = (Total Net Sales - All Variable Costs) / Net Sales * 100


The selling price per unit, minus the variable cost per unit.


Contribution Margin ROI 

Contribution Margin ROI = Contribution Margin / Total Cost of Goods


The measurement of the return on your investment in stock items.

Gross Margin (%) 

Gross Margin (%) = (Total Net Sales - Total Cost of Goods - Amazon Commission - FBA Shipping Fees) / Total Net Sales *100


The difference between your revenue and cost of goods sold, represented as a percentage.

Gross Margin ROI 

Gross Margin ROI = (Total Net Sales - Total Cost of Goods - Amazon Commission - FBA Shipping Fees)/ Total Cost of Goods


The measurement of your ability to turn inventory into cash above the cost of the inventory.

ROI 

Return on Investment = Net Profit / Total Cost of Goods


The measurement of the return on your sales, relative to the costs you incurred to make them.

Net Profit per Unit 

Net Profit per Unit = Total Net Profit / # of Units Sold

The Net Profit for the defined period, divided by the number of Units sold.

Net Profit Margin (%) 

Net Profit Margin = Net Profit * 100 / Net Sales


Your net income as a percentage of revenue.


Promotions

Gross Promo Sales 

Gross Promo Sales = Sales from Promotions + Sales from Shipping Promotions


The total revenue from regular Promotions and Shipping Promotions by Amazon.


Net Promo Sales

Net Promo Sales = Gross Promo Sales - Total Promo Cost


The net revenue from regular Promotions and Shipping Promotions by Amazon.

Promos

Promos = Total # of Orders - # Non-Promo Orders


The number of Orders from Promotions.


Promo Costs 

Total Promo Costs = Promo Rebates + Amazon Fees


The sum of all Promo Rebates plus any Amazon fees related to promotions and coupons.

Promo Rebates 


The total amount given in Promotional Rebates.


Returns

Gross Refunds Amount 

Gross Refunds Amount = Total value of returned units. 


The value of returned Units. 

Refund Commission 

Varies based on market and category. 


The Amazon Refund Commission charged during the return process. 

Refund Rate 

Refund Rate = (100 / Units) * Returned Units

The percentage of Refunds. 

Returned Inventory Cost 

Returned Inventory Cost = Total Costs - Gross Refunds Amount

The amount of Costs generated by Units that were later returned. 

Returns 

Returns = # of returned items 


The total number of Returns.

Total Return Cost 

Total Return Cost = Refund Commission + Returned Inventory Cost

The total amount of costs generated by Returns and Amazon Commission fees. 


Sales & . Profit

Avg. Selling Price 

Avg. Selling Price = Gross Sales Adj. for Refunds / (# of Units - # Returned Units)

The price at which Units were sold in the given time frame. 

Avg. Units per Order 

Avg. Units per Order = Units / Orders

The average number of Units in an Order. 

Dollar Contribution 

Dollar Contribution = Total Net Sales - (Total Cost of Goods - Amazon Commission - FBA Shipping Fees - AdSpend - Total Promo Cost - Total Return Cost)

Your remaining Profit after subtracting your variable costs form the value of your Net Sales Adjusted for Refunds. Note that the calculation for Dollar Contribution does not include your fixed costs.

FBA Units

FBA Units = # Units - # FBM Units


The total number of Units shipped through Amazon FBA. 

FBM Units

FBM Units = # Units - # FBA Units

The total number of Units shipped through Amazon FBM. 

Gross FBA Sales 

Gross FBA Sales = Total FBA Sales + Total FBA Tax + Total FBA VAT

Gross sales generated through Amazon FBA. 

Gross FBM Sales 

Gross FBM Sales = Total FBM Sales + Total FBM Tax + Total FBM VAT

Gross sales generated through Amazon FBM. 


Gross Overall Shipping Revenue 

Gross Overall Shipping Revenue = Gross Shipping Revenue + Gross Gift Wrap Revenue

The portion of your overall revenue marked as shipping.

Gross Sales Adj. for Refunds

 Gross Sales Adj, for Refunds  = (Gross Sales + Tax + VAT) - Refunds


The sum of your Gross Sales (including Sales Tax / VAT) subtracted by Refunds.

Net Overall Shipping Revenue

Net Overall Shipping Revenue = NetShippingRevenue + NetGiftWrapRevenue


The portion of your overall revenue marked as shipping.

Net Profit

Net Profit = Total Net Sales - (Total Cost of Goods - Amazon Commission - FBA Shipping Fees - Ad Spend - Total Promo Cost - Total Retun Cost - Other Amazon Fees - FBA Storage Fees - FBA Service Fees) 

Your remaining Profit after subtracting fixed and variable costs from your Gross Profit.

Net Sales Adj. for Refunds 

Net Sales Adj. for Refunds  = Net Adjusted Sales + Net Overall Shipping Revenue

The sum of your Net Sales (including VAT / Sales Tax) subtracted by Refunds.

Orders

Orders = # Orders - # Cancelled Orders

The total sum of Orders, subtracted by the sum of cancelled Orders. Note that Orders refunded at a later date are included in this number.

Sales Tax / VAT 

If Amazon reports the amount separately to Sellics, Sales Tax / VAT =  Tax + VAT
If there is no tax reported by Amazon, Sales Tax / VAT = Gross Sales* VAT Rate /(1+VAT Rate)

Total Net Costs 

Total Net Costs = Total Cost of Goods + Amazon Commission + FBA Shipping Fees + Ad Spend + Total Promo Cost + Total Return Cost + Other Amazon Fees + FBA Storage Fees + FBA Service Fees

The total sum of your fixed and variable costs, excluding taxes.

Units 

Units = # of Units ordered

The total number of Units ordered.

Variable costs

AMZ Commission 

Varies based on market and category.

The amount in Amazon Referral Fees & order-based Amazon Commissions. 

FBA Shipping Fees 

Varies based on market and category.

FBA fees per shipped item.

 


Total Cost of Goods 

Total Cost of Goods = Sum of all Costs defined in the Cost Manager.

The sum of the Unit Costs defined in the Cost Manager.
