What are backend keywords?

Backend keywords can be entered when you are making changes to your product listings using Listing Optimization in the Content & SEO module. These keywords don't appear on the product description but are still indexed to Amazon's search engine. In other words, they are literally the hidden gems!

Is there a limit to the number of characters I can enter for backend keywords?

Yes. The limit is 249 Bytes

Most product categories only allow a total of 249 Bytes across for all backend keywords. As soon as there are more than 249 Bytes, the last term that crosses that limit and all that follow will not be indexed anymore.

Special Characters (2x), Hypens, Commas & Spaces all count towards Bytes

Special Characters (eg. ä, ü, ö, ß, &, é) count as 2 bytes and in some cases even more.

Normal characters, Hyphens, Commas & Spaces count as 1 Byte.
